Seminars & Workshops

Designed for Colleges, Universities, and Professional Media Programs

We bring field-tested, real-world industry experience directly to higher education departments and emerging filmmakers. Derived from original curriculums created for the Maine Media Workshops, these intensive one- or two-day seminars bridge the gap between academic theory and the realities of commercial production.

Core Seminar Topics:

  • Creating the Unscripted Series: Concept development, format structuring, and pitching for unscripted television.

  • The Pitch: Mastering the art of the verbal pitch, deck creation, and buyer engagement.

  • Building & Running an Independent Production Company: The fundamentals of sustainable media entrepreneurship, business operations, and creative leadership.

  • Science & History Communication: Adapting complex academic research and scientific studies for broadcast and mainstream audiences. (Tailored specifically for Science, History, and Humanities departments)

Logistics & Pricing:

Seminar instruction fees are heavily subsidized by Mentor My Film to keep access affordable for academic institutions. Travel and lodging expenses are separate and covered by the host institution. Courses can also be attended on site at the Maine Media Workshops.

Professional Mentorship

For over three decades co-running Lone Wolf Media, mentorship has been a founding pillar of our business model. Dozens of ambitious filmmakers began their careers at Lone Wolf—many evolving into long-term staff, and others launching successful careers across the wider film and television landscape.

Having benefited immensely from generous mentors early in my own career, Mentor My Film was built to formalize that commitment: offering emerging storytellers the hands-on guidance, critical feedback, and professional advocacy needed to navigate the industry.

Fiscal Agency Services

The film and television industry is undergoing a structural shift. With streamers and traditional broadcasters buying fewer projects, talented filmmakers face an uphill battle securing traditional commissioning funds.

Soliciting donor contributions and foundation grants is now one of the most viable paths for independent documentary production. However, most donors and grantors require a 501(c)(3) non-profit partner to process tax-deductible contributions.

Mentor My Film serves as a trusted fiscal agent for select independent projects—providing the non-profit administrative backbone needed to secure philanthropic funding at a nominal operational fee.

How to Apply for Fiscal Agency:

To be considered for fiscal sponsorship, please submit a brief proposal including:

  1. Film Synopsis: A concise overview of your story and core theme.

  2. Projected Budget: Estimated total costs and current funding status.

  3. Intended Distribution: Target audience and release path (e.g., broadcast/streaming, film festivals, educational distribution, or institutional/private use).

Note: All projects are subject to IRS 501(c)(3) compliance guidelines.
